If you could re-energize, ease stress, and boost your immune system in just minutes, would you do it? Of course! Who wouldn’t? In this week’s video I offer some simple ideas like taking laugh breaks. Laughter can help you achieve better health. During these laughter exercises it is also a great help to use key words like; fun, joy, happiness. Can you think of any others?
laugh with Angel MarieJoin me as we talk about three simple yet proven ways to laugh more:
Laugh at yourself in the mirror
Surround yourself with people who make you laugh
Watch funny movies, YouTube videos and TV programs
With researchers now saying laughter can assist in balancing all components of the immune system, this can help fight off disease. Studies show that children laugh 300-400 times a day. Adults laugh only about 20 times a day… I have seen this in my Coaching practice. Most people don’t know how to laugh! Let’s stop being so serious..
I challenge you to take some time to laugh today! YOU will feel better! And, watch the video for some great guffaws and tips to get you giggling!

Happiness: Choose it – it is Delightful!

Have you ever chased the Ice Cream Truck?  I remember running through the house, screaming to my Mama, chasing the truck down the street and being so excited about getting ice cream from the Ice Cream Person!  I would be full of laughter and anticipation of my wondrous treat.  It just was not the same as going to the store for this special treat.  This wonderful memory was made fresh when I saw – and actually ran after – an Ice Cream Truck at a friends house.  And the truck was my favorite color too – purple!  I was happy to bring back that feeling of joy.  It reminded me how serious we take life as we grow into adulthood.

I challenge each and every one of you to think back to a wonderful memory and get happy!   It is a choice.  I was recently at the grocery store and it was busy.  I noticed the people around me were not even smiling.  I could feel they were really uptight.  I put a smile on my face, took a deep breath and began thinking about Tai Chi in the park and I began to feel really happy.  So, choose your thoughts and be happy!

Non Action IS Action

Last week my Inspirational & Insightful newsletter was sent out with the subject in the subject line reading “Enter subject here”.  As soon as I saw that I just laughed at my self. I thought what should I do to fix it? Should I do anything?

One of Taoism’s most important concepts is Wu Wei.  This is often translated as “non-doing” or “non-action.” Wu Wei refers to the cultivation of a state of being in which our actions are quite effortlessly in alignment with the ebb and flow of the cycles of the natural world. Simply said, Wu Wei is “going with the flow”, with great ease and awareness.  Without even trying we are able to respond perfectly to whatever situations arise.

So, should I send another email with a correction? Should I email an apology? As I looked at all my options I considered Wu Wei and the value of non-action. By “going with the flow” I am allowing this error to exist and accepting everything is as it should be. Then I thought about the upcoming launch of my new website and how so often, there are minor corrections and adjustments as a new site goes live. If I could laugh at the subject line error in my newsletter I know I will be able to laugh at a few glitches on my new site. Wu Wei is excellent practice for the art of thriving as life unfolds around me! So go with the flow!

Laughter IS The Best Medicine! So What Are You Waiting For? Laugh!

Posted 12/08/11 by Angel Marie and filed under:

Laughter is a natural human reaction to humor. It’s a free and easy way to improve physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.

Just Laugh!

Laughter is scientifically proven to be a powerful antidote to:

  • stress,
  • pain and
  • conflict
  • heals and renews
  • relaxing the body,
  • boosting the immune system,
  • protecting the heart and
  • releasing endorphins. (Endorphins are naturally produced by the body and give us that “feel good” feeling we all long for).

Something not so funny, is that on average, people laugh less today than they did back in the 1950s.

Laughing with others is powerful and there are several ways to bring laughter into your life.

  • Laugh at yourself – Don’t take yourself so seriously!
  • Look in the mirror and laugh at yourself!
  • Share personal funny stories with others!

Once you are able to laugh at yourself, others will be at ease in sharing and will gladly join in. Look for the irony or absurdity of life and laugh! I personally laugh at myself all the time. For any of you that have been around me or have taken a class, you know I am full of joy and laughter…So, just laugh!
